When it is useful
If you arrive by car and park at Tronchetto, or by bus or taxi at Piazzale Roma, the water taxi is the fastest way to reach a hotel with luggage without changing boats.
Beyond these two points Venice has no roads: everything moves on foot or by boat. With suitcases, children or a group, a private boat saves you bridges, steps and crowded public boats.
Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto
Piazzale Roma is the bus and taxi terminal, at the edge of the historic centre. Tronchetto is the large car park on the artificial island just before it. In the form they are two separate departures: choose the one where you are, and the price for your group appears straight away.
Where the boat takes you
In the historic centre the water taxi stops at the landing closest to your hotel. For hotels on the inner canals the drop-off is at the nearest reachable landing: some canals can be closed by the tide or by traffic rules.
From Piazzale Roma and Tronchetto you can also reach the Lido, Giudecca and the island hotels: Hotel Excelsior, San Clemente Palace, JW Marriott Venice and Hilton Molino Stucky. Murano, Burano and Torcello are not part of this service.
From the airport
During the day, from Venice Marco Polo Airport you can book a private minivan to Piazzale Roma or Tronchetto on its own, or the combined minivan and water taxi service to your hotel. In the combined service a driver meets you at the arrivals exit with a sign showing your name, and at Piazzale Roma the boat is already waiting. At night, between 22:00 and 07:00, every airport transfer is by boat only, from the airport water taxi dock.
Before you leave
For every departure, call us 20 minutes before the pickup time: we give you the boat number and the captain's name, and tell you where to find them. The phone number is at the bottom of the page.
The first 10 minutes of waiting are included, even if you are delayed; after that, waiting is charged for every further 10 minutes.
What the price includes
The price is per boat: up to 4 passengers and 5 bags are included, and the boat carries a maximum of 8 passengers. Return trips cost the same as the outbound route.
Each piece of luggage can measure up to 90 × 75 × 65 cm, with a maximum of 10 pieces per boat. Departures between 22:00 and 07:00 have a night supplement, added by the form when you choose the time.
- Passengers: up to 4 included, extra charge for each additional passenger (maximum 8).
- With 1–4 passengers: 5 bags included, extra charge for each additional bag.
- With 5–8 passengers: one bag per person included, extra charge for each additional bag.
- Night supplement for departures between 22:00 and 07:00.
Weather and cancellation
With extreme weather or exceptional high tide a route can change or stop for a while: we contact you straight away to agree another meeting point or move the service at no extra cost.
Cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pickup; between 48 and 24 hours before, half the price is charged; with less than 24 hours' notice, or if you do not show up, the full price is charged.
